TUCKER

(1919 - 1944)

((To many prominent fen of the U.S.A. and Canada went a sad notification one day last week -- a notice that the illustrious career of Robert Wilson Tucker of Burlington Illinois had died in a theater fire.

Tucker was editor of LeZombie famed among fanzines, and Proxy of the prewar Society for the Prevention of Wired Staples in Scientifiction Magazines. He will also be remembered for his characterization of Hoy Ping Pong, that greatest of all Chinese fan filosophers.))

In simple attribute to the passing of one widely famed and widely talked-about in fandom, the editors of The Cinvention Daily sent an inquiring reporter venturing with pencil and notebook into the trackless and fan-populated wilds of the darkest Metropole. Back he brought these deathless pearls of praise and sorrow for that vanished giant of the fanation, Robert Wilson Tucker:

Mel Korshak: (Weeping openly and unashamedly into a nearby ashtray) -- "It should have happened 37 years ago!"

Someone named Garner, but whose first name seems to have been lost in the shuffle: " Ah, Tucker -- the boy has long been overdue for a drowning."

L. A. Eshbach: (who was cheering wildly and waving his hat in the air at the time): "Bravo! -- And you can quote me on that!"

Ned McKoewn: "We are about to take up a collection to purchase a suitable wreath for our dear departed comrade. Wouldn't you like to contribute?"

David A. Kyle: " It's about time!
