Volunteering

No Worldcon can operate without the vast number of willing volunteers who help us put on the convention. ConJosé would be delighted to hear from anyone who would like to volunteer to work on the convention. Please stop by the Volunteers Desk to sign up.

Please print and complete the Volunteer Release Form and bring it with you to the Volunteer Desk. If the Volunteer is under 18 years old, the form must also be signed by a parent or legal guardian, but they do not need to physically appear with the Volunteer.

Information Volunteers Need to Know

Set-Up in the Convention Center will begin on Wednesday. If you have experience driving a 15' or larger truck and will be available to help on Tuesday, August 27th, Wednesday, August 28th or Tuesday, September 3rd, and have not already communicated with Dawn Plaskon or Peggy Rae Sapienza about this possibility, please contact us.

Volunteers who arrive on site after Saturday evening, August 24th will be welcomed (and put to work) by Peggy Rae Sapienza. Volunteers expects to be co-located with Registration in the Fairmont Hotel (Room: TBD) until we move into the Convention Center on Wednesday, August 28th. Check with the Fairmont's front desk to obtain the location.

Numerous and varied prizes have been donated for Volunteers. Prizes will be randomly drawn from among the Release Forms which Volunteers have completed. Check with the Volunteer Desk or Staff Lounge to determine if you have won a prize. Additional prizes will be awarded during the Volunteer Thank You Party on Monday evening in the Staff Lounge.

All Volunteers are invited to go to the Staff Lounge when they need a break from working. The Staff Lounge is located in the Ambassador Suite (Room 2014) in the Fairmont and is expected to be open during the following times:

Wednesday August 28th 10:00 am until 10:00 pm
Thursday August 29th through Sunday September 1st 7:00 am until 10:00 pm
Monday September 2nd 7:00 am. until 7:00 pm
Tuesday September 3rd 10:00 am. until 7:00 pm

All ConJosé and Torcon 3 Volunteers are invited to attend a Volunteer Tea, hosted by Torcon 3, on Sunday, September 1st at 2:00 P.M. Ask for an invitation to the Tea at either the Torcon 3 table in Hall 2 of the Convention Center or at the Volunteers' Desk.

The ConJosé Program is now available on-line.

Volunteers who work for at least ten hours are eligible for a complimentary T-Shirt (art work by David Cherry).

Folks who work at least thirty hours are eligible for reimbursement of their membership cost after ConJosé, assuming the Worldcon is financially able to do so.

If you have any further questions, please write to us at volunteers@conjose.org.
