CONJOSÉ, THE 60TH WORLD SCIENCE FICTION CONVENTION

FOR RELEASE FRIDAY, JUNE 8, 2001,

CONJOSÉ ANNOUNCES EVENTS VENUE

ConJosé, the 2002 Worldcon, has announced that it will be using San José's Civic Auditorium for its major evening events, including (but not necessarily limited to) the Hugo Awards Ceremony and Masquerade. The Civic Auditorium is a charming venue built in the classic Mission style. Zorro costumes would be entirely appropriate.

The Civic Auditorium seats just over 3000 people on two levels. It is located immediately across the street from the McEnery Convention Center, ConJosé's principal daytime venue. By using the Civic, ConJosé will be able to devote the whole of the McEnery's vast main hall to daytime convention events, but at the same time the major evening events will be very conveniently located.

Further information, including photographs and floor plans of the Civic Auditorium, is available on the ConJosé web site at: http://www.conjose.org/Sanjose/civic.html. A street map of downtown San José showing the location of the McEnery Convention Center, Civic Auditorium and major convention hotels is available at: http://www.conjose.org/Sanjose/facilities.html.

The 2002 Worldcon, known as ConJosé, will take place at the McEnery Convention Center, San José, California from 29 August through 2 September 2002. More information about ConJosé, including current membership rates, is available from its web site (http://www.conjose.org/) or by writing to info@conjose.org.
