HUGO AWARD NOMINATIONS OPEN FOR 2002

ConJosé, the 2002 World Science Fiction Convention, announces that nominations for this year's Hugo Awards are now open. These awards will cover activities in the fields of science fiction and fantasy during the calendar year 2001. Ballots have already been distributed to existing ConJosé members and are available from our web site (http://www.conjose.org/wsfs/wsfs_hugo.html). You may also nominate online.

You may nominate in the Hugo Awards if you were a member of The Millennium Philcon, the 2001 Worldcon, or if you have purchased at least a supporting membership in ConJosé by 31 January 2002. A supporting membership costs $35 and also entitles the member to participate in the final Hugo Award ballot (as well as other privileges). People who were members of The Millennium Philcon but do not join ConJosé may not participate in the final Hugo Award ballot.

ConJosé members should note their Hugo PIN number, as printed on the mailing label of Progress Report #3. This is required for nominating and voting online. If you do not have your Hugo PIN available, or it has not arrived, look out for our next publication, ConJosé Offline #3, which mails in early February and will also carry the Hugo PIN, or write to us at hugos@conjose.org.

The 2001 WSFS Business Meeting passed a special eligibility extension provision. Works in the categories for written fiction, plus Best Related Book and Best Dramatic Presentation, if first published outside of the USA in 2000 and not published in the USA by 31 January 2001, are eligible for Hugo Awards at ConJosé.

In addition to the regular Hugo Awards, ConJosé has created a special category of Best Web Site. This applies to the body of work made available by the web site during 2001. It does not matter if the site changed during the year - it is the whole year's output that you are judging it on. For more details on how the Best Web Site will be administered see http://www.conjose.org/wsfs/wsfs_web.html.
