NEBULA AWARD NOMINATIONS

This year's Nebula Award Ballot (open to members of the SFWA) is
now out and includes, in the Novel Category, Jack Dann's The
Memory Cathedral and Greg Egan's Permutation City. Jack's
novella "Da Vinci Rising" also made it onto the ballot.

THE YEAR' BEST AUSTRALIAN SCIENCE FICTION AND FANTASY: VOLUME ONE

Jonathan Strahan notes that YBASFF97 will be available in April
and will contain "The Sword of God" Russell Blackford, "Never
Seen By Waking Eyes" Stephen Dedman, "Of Fingers and Foreskins"
Sara Douglass, "Illium" Andrew Whitmore, "Blind Eye" Jack Dann,
"The Mark of Thetis" Simon Brown, "The Sword of God" Russell
Blackford, "Silver Fire" Greg Egan, "The Ghost of Mrs Rochester"
Lucy Sussex, "Princess Melodia and the White Catherine" Beverly
Macdonald, "Passing the Bone" Sean Williams, "A Man and His
Dreams" Marele Day, "The Ichneumon and the Dormeuse" Terry
Dowling, "Schrodinger's Dog" Damien Broderick , "The Phoenix"
Isobelle Carmody, and "Doctor Tilmann's Consultant: A Scientific
Romance" Cherry Wilder. Interesting to note that no Aurealis
stories made the cut.

A WEIRD COLONIAL GIRL?

Paul Voermans & Fiona McHugh announce the birth of Natalie
Claire Louise Voermans 3770 g (8lb 5oz) on 18 February 1997 @
around 10:30 pm utterly gorgeous many fingers and toes. Mother
and child just dandy.

IT WAS FIFTY OR SIXTY YEARS AGO....

In a long and detailed report on aus.sf, Julian Warner dealt
respectively with the sixtieth birthday of Lee Harding and the
fiftieth birthday party of Aussiecon Three GoH Bruce Gillespie.
The list of people present at each event would push this issue of
the Bullsheet into a higher postal category. Suffice to say
congratulations to both on notching up yet another decade.
Fortunately Natalie Claire Louise Voermans, who was present at
Bruce's party, decided to wait until the next evening to arrive
otherwise it might have been a real birth day party.

AUSSIECON THREE

Perry Middlemiss reports "Roy Ferguson has agreed to run the Hugo
Awards for Aussiecon Three, reprising the sterling work he did in
the same area in 1985. Acting as general dogsbody, eligibility
checker and general lugger of things heavy, is Justin Ackroyd.
Eric Lindsay has been appointed by the Board of Aussiecon Three
to head the Projections and Contingency Planning Division. This
is an Executive Committee position with responsibility for the
areas of Budget Administration, Contingency Planning and Risk
Analysis. In some ways it reflects the more traditional role of
"Treasurer" but as Eric is based in Sydney and as we will require
our "treasurer" to be Melbourne-based in order to carry out the
day-to-day banking requirements of the convention, we have
decided to create the new area of "Finance". For the time being I
will fill that role (continuing my Treasurer's role from the
bidding phase) until we can find someone better suited."
